We know Garfield hates Mondays, but this Monday comes with some news that is sure to cheer that lazy cat up: The Garfield Movie will be available to buy and rent on digital platforms tomorrow.

Based on the Garfield comic strip created by Jim Davis, this 2024 animated movie is the third Garfield movie to be released in theaters. (The first two films, Garfield: The Movie and Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties, were “live-action” and starred Bill Murray as the voice of the eponymous orange cat.) In the new Garfield movie, Chris Pratt voices the wise-cracking kitty, while Nicholas Hoult voices Jon Arbuckle, Garfield’s owner. The star-studded voice cast also includes Harvey Guillén as Odie, Samuel L. Jackson as Garfield’s father, and Hannah Waddingham as a Persian cat named Jinx. Additional voice cast includes Ving Rhames, Cecily Strong, Brett Goldstein, Bowen Yang, and Snoop Dogg

The Garfield Movie opened in theaters in May, and was a box office success, earning over $244.8 million worldwide. Maybe that’s why Sony opted to keep the movie in theaters for two months, rather than the one-month theatrical run is the new norm for most major studios.

Beginning on Tuesday, July 9, The Garfield Movie will be available to buy and rent digitally on Amazon Prime, Google Play, Apple TV, Vudu, and more. The price may vary depending on which platform you use to purchase the film, but on Amazon Prime the movie will cost $19.99 to rent, and $24.99 to buy. If you rent the movie, you will have a 48-hour window to watch it after you hit “play.”
